Original Song Release

Towards the end of the school year, the College released an original song, ‘Sing His Praise’.

It was written by Penrith Anglican College students under the direction of Mr Nick Craig, the College’s drum tutor. Students applied to join a songwriting group in Term 3 with the purpose of creating a gospel focussed song for the College’s end of year presentation day.

The song was performed and recorded by students with the help of Mr Nick Lane and Mr Jake Nauta. The Senior Choir sang sections of the song and was involved in the filming day.

Ella Johnson (Year 9) said “The song ‘Sing his Praise’ was a collaborative project which involved students from both the junior and secondary school. From the beginning, students were invited to share their ideas for lyrics and a melody around the theme, building God’s kingdom. We worked on the lyrics and melodic line simultaneously during the various song writing sessions.”

“Once the songwriting process was completed, we went to a studio to record along with additional students. This recording day gave students the opportunity to record vocals, guitar, piano and more. The project did not end here as we began to think about ideas for a music video with students from across the college being a part of this.”

This was such a fun experience. The production team were amazing at capturing the purpose of the song that everyone is welcome in the kingdom of heaven.”

Well done to the Songwriter’s Archer Fell, Anotida Tirivazvo, Ella Johnson and Oliver Johnson.

Artwork was created by Year 9 student Jasmin Espey.
